1. Pokemon Legends: Z-A
Like many successful anime, Pokémon has positioned itself in the Japanese animation industry with series, movies and OVAs since the late nineties of the last century and is truly the most successful series based on a video game in history, as it has not stopped broadcasting and continued even in 2024, announcing more seasons for this year. With Ash Ketchum and his inseparable best friend Pikachu as references, Pokémon is preparing for this year Pokemon Legends: Z-A, the second installment of the “Legends” saga, which promises to be one of the biggest in the entire franchise.
It is not a surprise that the second installment of Pokémon Legends is in first place in the top of anime video games for this 2025 and the reason is simple: any title under the name “Pokémon” and that is specifically an RPG as we are accustomed to Game Freak and The Pokémon Company is a resounding success in the market. It happened a couple of years ago with their latest releases: Violet/Scarlet which had a solid narrative and innovative mechanics and with Legends: Arceus the first video game that did not include the “League” and focused on the lore of the god creator of the whole Pokémon world: Arceus.
The first installment of Legends for the Nintendo Switch was risky, but ultimately a resounding success and the second installment of Legends: Z-A promises to be even better, as it will bring back Mega Evolutions, a tenth generation of pocket monsters and a presumed inclusion of Teracrystallizations (a mechanic included in Violet/Scarlet’s Paldea). Z-A will be set in a city similar to Paris, just as Paldea was in Spain and is scheduled for release in conjunction with the Nintendo Switch successor in mid-2025.
