At this point no one doubts the success of “Demon Slayer” (Kimestu no Yaiba) within the anime industry today and even beyond it, becoming positioned among the best in the world training in general, because the anime is full of action and technical level is one of the best, but it seems that this does not necessarily mean that the work is to everyone’s liking, because recently “Kimetsu” has been involved in a controversy around their female characters.
“Demon Slayer” and the anime are again criticized for the design of the female characters!
As we all know, social networks are an excellent way to share tastes, create community and follow your favorite artists and personalities in the industry, but also a place where you can unleash a discussion at any time and this time “Demon Slayer” has been involved in new controversy over the design of its female characters, as it has gone viral a recent publication of the user “@shimaintheus” that makes a criticism about the design of the girls and the emphasis that the show makes on cleavage and their great attributes.
“Shima” comments the following, “I was watching “Demon Slayer” with my husband during the evening, but halfway through the series there were many costumes that emphasized the girls’ breasts and, as expected, my husband asked me “why does Japanese anime emphasize girls’ breasts so much?”. I couldn’t answer him, but I was relieved to know that he has a decent sensibility. It’s a very good story, but I don’t know. And I wonder what would be the right way to explain it…”
This publication that went viral in X also reached the Japanese forums, where the discussion went up a notch, as some comments mentioned that this was irrelevant, as they were fictional characters and also that in general all their physical features do not match the reality of either male or female characters. Others commented that this was due to the fact that “Demon Slayer” was a work aimed at teenagers and that at this stage many are interested in this type of features.
Other users also said that this woman was probably part of “some foreign collective” which was known for “complaining about everything“, so they should not pay attention to her comments. Finally, some “Demon Slayer” otakus emphasized that the superhero industry was also ridiculous in its physical proportions, as everyone is “muscular and tall” while the girls are “excessively thin”, this following the fact that a US flag appears on “Shima’s” profile.
As we have seen once again, the great “Demon Slayer” franchise has been involved in a controversy where the main focus is the size and how the attributes of its female characters are displayed, something that we have already seen, but that for some reason some people outside this type of resources continue to emphasize. So tell us in the comments section what you think about this new controversy and who do you agree with?, if with the user or with the fans who say it is irrelevant, because it is a work of fiction and, therefore, are not tied to the “real physical” standards.
