As the months go by, more and more information is being released about Death Stranding 2, an installment that fans already want to see the light to know how this intriguing story that had many people wondering what would happen as the plot progressed will continue. But now what has people excited is to know that one of the most beloved “waifus” of recent years, Takina Inoue of Lycoris Recoil, will be present in the game, or at least her seiyuu, since Kojima himself gave a more than interesting reason why he hired her.
Takina Inoue’s seiyuu joins the cast of Death Stranding 2
What no one expected is something that happened at the Death Stranding 2 conference held at the Tokyo Game Show, in which Hideo Kojima, the creator of this installment was present where he revealed that the seiyuu Shion Wakayama, the voice for Takina Inoue in Lycoris Recoil, will also voice the character Tomorrow in the game. This undoubtedly took many fans by surprise, as they did not expect this voice actress to incur so quickly in a game as big as Death Stranding.
Despite this, many are not surprised by Hideo Kojima’s decision to include Shion Wakayama as a voice actress for the Japanese version, as it has long been known that the creator of Death Stranding is a fan of the Lycoris Recoil series, even a fan of Takina Inoue. Previously, Hideo Kojima had been publishing things related to Lycoris Recoil, expressing how much he liked the work in terms of the plot and characters, especially Takina, who he liked how the seiyuu in charge of her gave her voice.
Hideo Kojima has repeatedly mentioned that Takina became one of his favorite Lycoris Recoil characters because of the way Shion Wakayama managed to bring the “waifu” to life, as for many Takina became a beloved one. So it is not surprising that the seiyuu caught the attention of the famous video game creator and wanted to include her in Death Stranding 2, but the way she discovered the series is quite curious.
It turns out that Hideo Kojima, as he comments during a tweet, one day he was using Amazon Prime Video looking for CODA; however, he was not so familiar with the platform and while searching for the title he came across the anime Lycoris Recoil. He was very surprised with the concept of the anime, as having a girl working in a coffee shop and being an assassin at the same time was a pretty amazing concept to him, so much so that he ended up becoming a fan of the series.
No doubt the impression left by the Lycoris Recoil series and the performance of Shion Wakayama as Takina influenced a lot in the choice of casting for Death stranding 2, and Hideo Kojima seems very enthusiastic about his choice, so no doubt the Japanese can rest assured with the dubbing. Let’s hope that new previews will be shown later to see how Takina’s voice is in Hideo Kojima’s long-awaited game.
We must also keep an eye on the news and information that is being updated about this game, because hopefully it will not be long before we can finally know how this intriguing story of Death Stranding 2 will continue. Who knows, maybe even this installment will become even more successful than its previous predecessor, but we can only wait for the long-awaited release date of this fascinating project.
