Dead by Daylight recently presented the main character of its new DLC: Ken Kaneki, the protagonist of the popular horror anime Tokyo Ghoul. The Behaviour Interactive studio announced that the character has been available since March 11 in a test phase, and will officially arrive on April 2, 2025, along with other characters from the anime. This indicates that we won’t have to wait long to try the sadism with which Kaneki was portrayed in the anime more than 10 years ago.
Dead by Daylight keeps adding content and now adds Ken Kaneki from Tokyo Ghoul
Few details have been revealed about this crossover, however, it is known that in this interpretation, Kaneki will be the main villain of the DLC, due to the very nature of the game, as opposed to his role as hero -or anti-hero- of the original anime. He will be able to use Kagune’s inherited abilities, just like in the anime, so you will have the character’s characteristic tentacles at your disposal.
With the intention of narrative coherence with Kaneki as the next Killer, his personality will be completely consumed by darkness, contrary to what was shown in the Japanese series. This way of presenting the character fits perfectly with the mechanics on which Dead by Daylight stands. The game’s system forces you to flee and fight against a certain Killer, outnumbering him, while he possesses abilities that benefit him when hunting his victims.
At the time, Dead by Daylight was released amidst mixed reviews, which considered it to be a moderately risky and not very fun game. Over the years the game has remained a proposal with little competition in its category, gathering millions of players from all over the world. Along with this, collaborations with the game have been with world-renowned franchises, as well as with artists. Examples of this could be collaborations with Stranger Things, Chucky, Halloween, or Resident Evil.
In addition to Kaneki’s playable character, we will have different cosmetics in the form of DLC to add to your characters. These will also be available from April 2 and will be the following:
• Awakened Ghoul outfit for Ghoul Ken Kaneki.
• David King.
• Eto costume outfit for Nea Karlsson.
• Hide costume outfit for Renato Lyra.
• Jake Park mask.
• Jonah Vasquez mask.
• Rabbit costume outfit for Yui Kimura.
• Rize Kamishiro’s outfit for the Ghoul Ken Kaneki.
• The Unknown Mask.
In short, this crossover opens up a range of possibilities for Behaviour Interactive’s title, it is the perfect opportunity to gradually introduce anime content and Japanese culture. If this collaboration is well received among the community, perhaps there would be a chance to see more anime characters reflected in Dead by Daylight in the future.
