DanMachi turns 10 and Fujino Omori talks about the series’ future
April 4 marks the tenth anniversary of DanMachi, the popular anime series based on Fujino Omori’s light novels. To celebrate this important date, the author shared a special message with fans, thanking them for their support over the years, Omori also teased the possibility of a sixth season, suggesting that fans should ask the characters of Freya and Syr to Enchant the anime staff to make it happen.
In his message, Omori reflected on the Goddess of the Harvest arc, centered on Freya and Syr, and how these two figures represent love and romance, respectively. “Freya, exhausted by love, finally turned to romance, which gave rise to Syr’s story,” the author explained. He also thanked the Seiyuus, especially Yoshitsugu Matsuoka (voice of Bell), for their dedication and effort in the fifth season, omori highlighted the work of Shizuka Ishigami (voice of Syr) and Yoko Hikasa (voice of Freya), whom he called absolute monsters for their performance in the series.
The fifth season of DanMachi, directed by Hideki Tachibana, recently concluded with an epic showdown between Bell and Ottar. The production team, including Shigeki Kimoto as character designer and Keiji Inai as composer, managed to maintain the integrity of the series while exploring new aspects of the story, and with the final arc of the light novels underway, fans of the saga are eagerly awaiting news of a possible sixth season.
In addition to the anime, DanMachi continues to expand with the recent release of the game Fullland of Water and Light on February 27, 2025, this new title promises to immerse players in the world of Orario with new adventures and challenges. The game’s plot centers on the Festival of the Goddesses, an event that brings the city-labyrinth of Orario to life, where Bell Cranel receives a mysterious letter from Syr that triggers a series of exciting events.
DanMachi’s success is not limited to anime and video games, as the light novels, illustrated by Suzuhito Yasuda, have achieved great success both in Japan and on an international level, with Crunchyroll licensing the series in different countries. And recently, the light novel entered its final arc with Volume 21, which has generated even more expectation among fans of the saga, who are waiting to know how this story will end.
