The year 2025 has finally arrived in Japan and the anime industry has decided to celebrate the beginning of a new year in a special way together with fans.
Anime that have commemorated the arrival of the New Year include My Hero Academia (Boku no Hero Academia), Dandadan (DAN DA DAN), KonoSuba: God’s Blessing on This Wonderful World! (Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo!), DanMachi (Dungeon ni Deai wo Motomeru no wa Machigatteiru Darou ka), Kobayashi-san Chi no Maid Dragon (Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid), and more. My Hero Academia, Dandadan, DanMachi, Konosuba and more anime celebrate New Year
My Hero Academia (Boku no Hero Academia)
The anime adaptation of the hit shonen manga My Hero Academia will return in 2025 with its final season, titled “My Hero Academia: Final Season”. It will premiere during this year’s Fall Season.
The My Hero Academia anime has the following description: In a world where 80% of the population has superpowers called “quirks,” heroes and villains fight for justice. The story follows Izuku Midoriya, a young boy without a quirk but passionate about becoming a hero. His life changes when he meets All Might, the most powerful hero, who, impressed by his determination, transfers his power to him and helps him enter the U.A. High School, an academy for future heroes. The plot narrates his challenges, confrontations with villains and the discovery of the true meaning of being a hero.

Dandadan (DAN DA DAN)
The anime series Dandadan (DAN DA DAN) will also return in the year 2025 with its Second Season. This new installment of the anime is scheduled to premiere in Japan during July of that year.
The Dandadan anime has the following description: Momo Ayase, a popular student who believes in the supernatural, and Ken Takakura, a boy obsessed with aliens, clash over their opposing beliefs. Although they initially rival to prove who is right, they end up forming an unexpected friendship as they face supernatural battles and encounters with the paranormal. As they develop unique abilities and complement each other, they begin to question whether their bond goes beyond mere survival.

DanMachi (Dungeon ni Deai wo Motomeru no wa Machigatteiru Darou ka)
Although fans will have to wait several months for the return of the DanMachi anime with the resumption of its fifth season, the production committee of the series has shared this special visual of Hestia to celebrate the arrival of 2025. Episode 12 of the DanMachi anime will premiere at the beginning of the Spring 2025 season.
The DanMachi anime has the following description: The story follows Bell Cranel, a young boy with a dream of becoming the greatest adventurer, in a world where gods and humans coexist. His life changes when he meets Hestia, a lonely goddess who supports him in his mission. Together, they face the dangers of the “Dungeon”, a labyrinth full of monsters and mysteries. As Bell struggles to overcome challenges in this dangerous world, he also faces the tensions between gods and humans, embarking on a journey full of emotions, dangers and discoveries.

KonoSuba: God’s Blessing on This Wonderful World! (Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo!)
The anime KonoSuba: God’s Blessing on This Wonderful World! will also return in the year 2025, although in a special format, as the OVA of its third season will be released in theaters in Japan on March 14 of that year.
The anime Konosuba! has the following description: Kazuma Satou, a recluse student, dies in a ridiculous way and is received by Aqua, an arrogant goddess, who offers him to be reincarnated in a fantasy world. Kazuma accepts and, for his mission to defeat the Demon King, chooses to take Aqua as his aid. However, he soon discovers that Aqua is useless and that life in this world is not like a game. Instead of great adventures, they both face everyday challenges, including the need to work to survive, which marks the beginning of their chaotic and comical misadventures.

Kobayashi-san Chi no Maid Dragon (Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid)
The anime adaptation of the manga Kobayashi-san Chi no Maid Dragon will also return this 2025, releasing its first movie. The film in the series will be titled “Kobayashi-san Chi no Maid Dragon: Samishigariya no Ryuu” (A Lonely Dragon Wants to be Loved) and will premiere at some point next year.
The anime Kobayashi-san Chi no Maid Dragon has the following description: Kobayashi, a quiet programmer, finds her life disrupted when a dragon named Tohru, whom she met during an intense night of drunkenness, appears at her door transformed into a young girl dressed as a maid. Tohru, grateful for Kobayashi’s offer of lodging, decides to work as his personal maid, though her unconventional methods cause chaos.
As they live together, Kobayashi discovers that Tohru harbors painful memories, and the arrival of other mythical beings further complicates her life. Between domestic disasters and deep emotions, Kobayashi tries to adapt to her new, eccentric reality with her dragon maid.

Tokidoki Bosotto Russia-go de Dereru Tonari no Alya-san (Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian)
The anime adaptation of Dereru Tonari no Alya-san’s light novel Tokidoki Bosotto Russia-go also joined the celebrations for the arrival of the year 2025 by presenting a charming visual image starring the beautiful Alisa Mikhailovna Kujou. Although a possible premiere date for its Season 2 is unknown at the moment, fans of the series are hopeful that it will be sometime in the year 2025.
The anime Tokidoki Bosotto Russia-go by Dereru Tonari no Alya-san has the following description: At the prestigious Seirei Academy, Alya Kujou, an outstanding and rigid half-Russian half-Japanese student, is intrigued by her classmate Masachika Kuze, an unmotivated boy who seems opposite to her. Although she expresses her affection for him in Russian believing he doesn’t understand her, Masachika keeps a secret: she is fluent in Russian because of a childhood friend. As they spend more time together, their relationship, initially marked by contrasts, transforms into a deep connection, as they both deal with the new feelings that arise between them.

Jujutsu Kaisen
The popular anime adaptation of the manga Jujutsu Kaisen has also celebrated the arrival of the year 2025 by wishing everyone a “Happy New Year!”. Recall that a sequel to Jujutsu Kaisen, which will cover the “Culling Game Arc” (Shimetsu Kaiyuu-hen), will be released next year. In addition, the film version of the arc “Hidden Inventory / Premature Death” (“Kaigyoku/Gyokusetsu”) corresponding to the second season of the series will be released on May 30.
