DAN DA DAN: Seiko Ayase causes sensation for her looks and age

The premiere of the third episode of the anime adaptation of the manga DAN DA DAN marked the debut of the character Seiko Ayase, one of the most important secondary characters of the series and grandmother of the female protagonist Momo Ayase.

However, Seiko has given much to talk about in the otaku community in recent days and despite having an age of 80 years, the physique of this character and her attractive design caught the attention of people, who have been surprised by the age of Seiko Ayase, to the point of being a topic of conversation and comparison with other franchises.

One of these artists was Mikuneki ミク (@mikuneki), a user of the social network X who took advantage of this special occasion to create his version of Seiko with a clear message “You like me, not my granddaughter?”.

With more than 24 thousand reactions, the image has spread across different social networks, so both English and Spanish-speaking audiences have reacted to it. Many have shared that they really like Seiko Ayase’s attractive design.

The manga DAN DA DAN is written and illustrated by Yukinobu Tatsu and began publication in Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+” service on April 6, 2021. Currently, Shueisha Publishing has collected the DAN DA DAN manga into 13 volumes in total and has more than 3.2 million copies in circulation. In November 2023, Shueisha Publishing confirmed that Yukinobu Tatsu’s manga Dandadan will have an anime adaptation.

The respective anime adaptation of the manga DAN DA DAN made its premiere on October 4 this year globally through the Netflix platform and has a English dub. The animation studio Science Saru is in charge of its production and the series will have a total of 12 episodes. As mentioned above, the series is legally streamed on the Netflix platform, although it has also reached the Crunchyroll platform.

The anime DAN DA DAN has the following description: The story follows Momo Ayase, a young woman who, after an aggressive rejection, becomes involved in a chance encounter with a bullied boy. This mysterious young man, passionate about the occult, tries to find common ground with Momo, who, in turn, professes a belief in ghosts.

What begins as a dispute over the real and the imaginary becomes a wager that leads both protagonists to separately explore places associated with both the occult and the supernatural. The surprise comes when they discover that both dimensions coexist, triggering a series of surreal events.

As they immerse themselves in this world where the unexplainable intertwines with the everyday, Momo and the boy embark on an adventure to restore the balance between the supernatural and the real. “Dandadan” promises a captivating narrative, exploring magic, mysteries and connections beyond the obvious, as the characters struggle to regain a normal life in the midst of the extraordinary.
