New episode of DAN DA DAN makes everyone cry (Spoilers)
As previously mentioned, in this episode we are introduced to the story of the yokai ‘Acrobatic Silky’, a spectre who in her human life was an indebted woman living with her only daughter.
Throughout the scene where we are shown Acrobatic Silky’s past life, we can see her relationship with her daughter and in the sequence we can see how she was teaching her daughter dance steps in a hobby they both enjoyed together, to the point of buying her a dress to make her daughter happier.
However, this provoked the anger of the people to whom he owed money and in an abrupt change that surprised many, we can see how these people break into his house with the aim of taking his daughter. Seeing the situation, she tries to escape with her daughter, but in the struggle, she is knocked over a glass door, which causes deep wounds in her arms and the kidnappers take her daughter away.
In a desperate attempt to run after the kidnappers, she falls to the ground on the street, leaving us with one of the scenes that managed to move more than one person to the point of tears, and the soundtrack, along with the incredible work that the animation studio Science Saru has done to animate this scene achieved its goal.
After losing track of the kidnappers and watching the van vanish down the road, Acrobatic Silky begins to show off his dancing talent, displaying his moves in the middle of a city illuminated by night lights and a sky full of stars.
In one shocking leap, the scene reveals his true intention: he decides to end his life by throwing himself off a building. As she falls, memories of her time with her daughter emerge in her mind, culminating in an emotional ‘Mom, thank you so much for everything’ at the end of the sequence.
But it doesn’t end there, as the seventh episode of the anime DAN DA DAN has another key moment: the scene in which Acrobatic Silky begins to fade away after transferring her aura to save Aira Shiratori, who has followed her as if she were her daughter for the past ten years.
In this sequence, we see how the yokai remembers his real daughter, wishing he could have had a better life and spent more time with her, although he regrets not having been able to offer her a happier life. It is then that a revived Aira runs to her, gives her a tight hug and dedicates words of affection and gratitude to her, speaking to her as if she were her daughter.
Along with these words, Aira mentions that she will be praying that the yokai and her real daughter can find peace together in a much more compassionate world.
