A few moments ago Netflix just announced the arrival of a new anime by the hand of its animation studio, being that in this case the protagonist franchise is a very well known and already had its animated series: Cyberpunk, one of the video games that managed to redeem itself after a failed launch. Now, with the announcement of this new anime, many fans expect it to be a second season of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners or a new story that takes place in Night City, the futuristic city that is the protagonist of most of the works, although nothing has been confirmed.
Cyberpunk is back with a new anime from Netflix
From its anime account, the popular streaming platform for series and movies Netflix announced the arrival of a new project, which surprised many, as it will be a new work based on the world of Cyberpunk, in a partnership that raised the hype after the release a few years ago of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. Much more information about what the anime will be about is still unknown, because nothing more than the announcement of this union between Netflix and CD Projekt Red was presented with a video.
In the small teaser shared by Netflix we see the recognized “N” logo that characterizes the platform, which looks distorted as we are used to the CD Projekt Red game, but with a phrase that is shown between the logos of the companies announcing: “Return to Night City”, to close with the logo of Cyberpunk and confirm the arrival of this new project. Although not much more information was presented as a tentative release date, from Netflix ask fans to stay tuned for further announcements.
This small teaser was more than enough for fans around the world to raise the cry in the sky, and many were expecting new projects that have as protagonists the CD Projekt Red game, being that the first anime of the franchise, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, is one of the best adaptations of a video game to this format. On the other hand, many fans believe that the story of that anime is already closed, but that there are still many stories within Night City that can be told, so this announcement only increased the hype of many fans around the world.
Finally, many are celebrating the return of the Cyberpunk world to the anime, as they hope that Lucy Kushinada, one of the most representative “waifus” of the first anime, will reappear at some point, either with a second season or with a new story in which she is the protagonist. Now it only remains to wait for the course of the weeks and for new information to come to light to finally know if this will finally be a second season or a direct adaptation of what was seen in the video game.
