Crunchyroll mysteriously withdrew several of its titles

It turns out that in recent weeks the anime platform Crunchyroll has been making some changes in its application, which have been some favorable and some very controversial, such as the price increase in some regions. But now it has decided to pull several popular anime titles without notice, leaving many people surprised by the sudden decision.

Crunchyroll removes several anime from its catalog

Normally, with the passage of time and the expiration of some licenses Crunchyroll platform has had to withdraw some of its titles and usually does so without issuing any prior announcement, so fans when they try to search for these titles are given with the bad surprise that they are no longer available to watch. But on this occasion many people were caught off guard, since there were several titles that were withdrawn in this case, of which there were several that even though they have been finished for a long time, they managed to attract a lot of attention.

Among the anime that were withdrawn from Crunchyroll’s catalog are My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU (Oregairu), Golden Time, Grisaia no Kajitsu (Le Fruit de la Grisaia), Senryuu Shoujo (Senryu Girl), Nande Koko ni Sensei ga! (Why the Hell Are You Here, Teacher!?), along with other works, which many do not understand why they were suddenly removed from the platform, although some theories have emerged that stick to the reality of the situation.

Senryuu Shoujo

Although there is no official statement from Crunchyroll, it turns out that the anime that were removed from the platform’s catalog are part of Sentai Filmworks. Sentai Filmworks has been in charge of licensing these anime and last year reached an agreement with the HI-DIVE platform to exclusively broadcast outside Asia all its anime titles that were arriving in the future. Although these anime have already been released for some time, it could be a response from Crunchyroll to this decision, although it all remains mere speculation.

But undoubtedly this theory seems to be the closest to reality that could have been carried out and without any response from Crunchyroll about the reason for removing all this series of anime from its catalog, this theory becomes even stronger. In the end it will be left to the opinion of the fans to speculate on what was really the reason for the disappearance of these series, since it is very unlikely that the platform will clarify this issue in public and more with the time that has passed and that still remains a mystery.
