A couple of years ago, Sony Group Corporation and Honda Motor Company surprised the world by announcing that they would join forces to create a new company that would be dedicated to fully compete in the growing market for high-tech electric vehicles. From this union was born “Sony Honda Mobility” who initially have been dedicated to the manufacture and sale of batteries for these vehicles.
With the great growth that this sector has experienced, the new company has also decided to move into the manufacture of vehicles under the brand name “Afeela”. In this context, it turns out that through a statement on its website, the new automotive company has announced that the Crunchyroll anime streaming platform will be available from 2025 in all its electric vehicles.
The company shared the following: “Through this collaboration, SHM will be the first in the world to integrate Crunchyroll into vehicles in North America as part of in-car services for AFEELA. Going forward, SHM will deepen its partnership with Crunchyroll, with the goal of expanding the range of experiences, initiatives and services that merge mobility with entertainment.”
Terry Li, director of the platform’s “Emerging Business” section, commented: “By bringing Crunchyroll to AFEELA vehicles, we not only expand accessibility for loyal fans, but also invite new viewers to explore the world of anime in a new way”.
While Shugo Yamaguchi director and president of “SHM” mentioned, “Our vision for mobility is to offer a creative entertainment space. Together with Crunchyroll, a platform adored by anime fans around the world, we will provide our customers with an enhanced mobility experience filled with engaging content.”
Obviously, having the ability to watch anime directly from our car is a very interesting idea, because, on the one hand, it makes it easier for fans to have a new mode of entertainment for those trips that can sometimes get a little long.
