Cowboy Bebop staff rejects idea of spin-offs in the future
In a recent interview with the staff of the Cowboy Bebop series, Koichi Yamadera offered a straightforward opinion speaking for all of his colleagues. No wonder, since voice actor Unsho Ishizuka (Jet Black) and Keiko Nobumoto, scriptwriter of the series, lost their lives. Keeping the mourning and appreciation for their colleagues, they decide not to participate in any spin-off, even if it is for the anniversary of the franchise.
In the voice actor’s words, which had a lot of seriousness and some nostalgia reminiscing about his companions:
“I’m sure all the staff also feel the same [about outgrowing the series]. It’s hard to list many series that I can say I’m really proud of or that, after all, are my most important work. I have a lot of feelings about Bebop. After the launch of the series […] so I think there were various spin-off ideas, but I don’t think we should do that given the passing of Unsho Ishizuka and Keiko Nobumoto.”
