The Comic Market, or Comiket for short, is one of the biggest events in Japan, where thousands of otaku fans gather to enjoy the world of anime, manga, and video games. This popular culture has a global appeal, and the event is so huge that the ads are everywhere in the country. But the most eye-catching one was at Kokusai-Tenjijō station, which was filled with “waifus” from various video games as part of the marketing campaign for Comiket 2023.
Azur Lane and Blue Archive stand out among waifus chosen for Comiket 2023 advertising
Comiket 2023 will take place on Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 of August in Japan, and the advertising for the event has already started in some parts of Japan, such as Kokusai-Tenjijō station. As the Twitter user @sakuragisk shared in a series of posts on his profile, we can see that many posters were put up, both inside and outside the station, with images of the “waifus” from some of the most played gacha games, such as Azur Lane or Blue Archive.
As we can see in the pictures, many familiar faces for those who play some of these games will immediately stand out, such as in the case of Azur Lane, where we have characters like St. Louis, known for her undeniable beauty, or Taihou, one of the fan favorites. On the other hand, from Blue Archive we can see the adorable Arona or the beautiful Shimiko, among others. And there are so many posters that any of the “waifus” that the players love are probably among them.
But not only Blue Archive and Azur Lane are some of the video games displayed at Kokusai-Tenjijō station, but also other games make their appearance, such as Heaven Burns Red, which is celebrating its one and a half year anniversary and wouldn’t miss such an important event. That’s why part of its marketing is also spread out in different scenarios of the place, mainly with the images that refer to the new characters added.
Comiket is one of the oldest events in otaku culture, which has been held since 1975 and has only grown in popularity ever since. So much so that for this year an estimated 500,000 to 750,000 people are expected to attend the event. And as usual, many of the top representatives of anime and video games will be part of this important meeting, which is held only twice a year, increasing even more the hype of the participants to be able to attend Comiket.
Moreover, one of the big factors that contribute to making the event so crowded is that, along with the attendance of the biggest companies in anime and video games, the entrance is completely free. So anyone who wants to be part of Comiket can do it without having to spend more than necessary.
