The official media of the multimedia franchise Classroom of the Elite (Youkoso Jitsuryoku Shijou Shugi no Kyoushitsu e) has unveiled the official cover of the first volume of “Classroom of the Elite: Year 3”. The cover illustration of this volume features the characters Suzune Horikita and Kakeru Ryuuen.
According to the information presented in the official media of the publisher KADOKAWA, the first volume of the light novel Classroom of the Elite: Year 3 (Youkoso Jitsuryoku Shijou Shugi no Kyoushitsu e: 3-nensei-hen) will be released for sale in bookstores and stores in Japan on March 24, 2025. Previously, the official media of Classroom of the Elite presented the members of the 4 classes of the third year.
Information about Classroom of the Elite:
The light novel Youkoso Jitsuryoku Shijou Shugi no Kyoushitsu e, also known as Classroom of the Elite in the West, is a drama written by Shougo Kinugasa and illustrated by Shunsaku Tomose. It began publication under the MF Bunko J imprint of Media Factory publishing house in May 2015. It should be noted that the work features a new arc titled “Youkoso Jitsuryoku Shijou Shugi no Kyoushitsu e: 2-nensei-hen” (Classroom of the Elite: Year 2), which kicked off its plot from volume #15 of the light novel and ended in November 2024.
The work has been adapted into manga by Yuyu Ichino and began to be published in the Monthly Comic Alive magazine of the publisher Media Factory in January 2016.
Classroom of the Elite: Year 2 also has its respective manga adaptation and Shia Sasane is in charge of the illustrations. Said adaptation began its publication in Monthly Comic Alive magazine in December 2021.
On July 12, 2017, the light novel Classroom of the Elite premiered its anime adaptation which consisted of 3 seasons (38 episodes in total). The series is produced by the animation studio Lerche and is legally available in America on the Crunchyroll platform, which dubbed the anime into English.

vAt the MF Bunko J Summer School Festival 2024 event, the production of a fourth season for the anime adaptation of the light novel Classroom of the Elite was announced. This new installment of the series will cover the first semester of the light novel “Classroom of the Elite: Year 2” (Youkoso Jitsuryoku Shijou Shugi no Kyoushitsu e 2-nensei hen).
The light novel Classroom of the Elite has the following description: The story introduces us to the prestigious Koudo Ikusei Senior High School, an institution where students enjoy unparalleled freedom and boasts a privileged position in Japan. However, the reality is far from idealized, as only the elite classes, ranked from A to D according to their performance, receive preferential treatment.
Kiyotaka Ayanokouji, a Class D student, whose placement is reserved for those with less outstanding grades, is the protagonist of this story. In this setting, she crosses paths with Suzune Horikita, a reserved classmate who believes her assignment to Class D was a mistake and aspires to move up to Class A, and Kikyou Kushida, a popular and friendly classmate who appears to be friendly, but has her own goals.
Although class membership is permanent, classifications are not. Students in lower classes can move up if they manage to outperform in grades those in higher classes. Moreover, in Class D, there are no limitations on the methods that can be employed to excel. In this unforgiving school environment, will students succeed in excelling and rising to the top?
