“Chainsaw Man” tells the unexpected and grim odyssey of Denji, a young man whose life takes an unexpected turn when he realizes a few things when he loses everything: an unpaid debt and the monotony of an existence devoid of his normal adolescence. To his good fortune, he finds a little fellow who names him Pochita, a chainsaw-shaped demon with whom he makes a living eliminating demons for the yakuza. However, fate takes a sinister turn when a greedy betrayal by the yakuza leads to an untimely and brutal death, dashing all hope of happiness. But in an unexpected twist, an ancient contract allows Pochita to merge with the deceased Denji, granting him demonic powers and transforming his anatomy into deadly chainsaws.
While these new abilities are impressive, they pose a considerable risk to society. That’s when Makima, an elite demon hunter from the Public Security Bureau, enters the picture. Offering Denji an extraordinary opportunity, Makima allows him to live under one condition: obey her orders and use his abilities to confront demonic threats.
Moved by the promise of a better life and the possibility of being with an attractive woman, Denji gives himself completely to this new cause. However, his journey is fraught with challenges, moral dilemmas and dark secrets hidden in the shadows.
