The official Twitter/X account @dakaretai_no1 of Dakaretai Otoko 1-i ni Odosarete Imasu (Dakaichi: My Most Wanted Rival) announced that the Boys Love series will have a Live Action adaptation from Thailand, the series will be titled Top Form and is expected to premiere in March 2025.
Dakaretai Otoko 1-i ni Odosarete immerses us in the passion of acting.
The “Dakaretai Otoko” series will be produced by WeTV and Tailai Entertainment, and will feature actors Smart and Boom as the main characters. To announce this news, we not only shared an image that announces the arrival of this live action series, but also WeTV Originals has shared a video that gives us a glimpse of the adaptation.
In the video we can see how Smart and Boom play Junta Azumaya and Takato Saijo respectively. The reception from the public has been quite positive and in the comments they highlight the beauty of both actors and how they manage to transmit the same energy as their characters in “Dakaretai Otoko”.
The manga Dakaretai Otoko 1-i ni Odosarete Imasu by Hashigo Sakurabi began its serialization in the magazine “Be x Boy” of Libre Publishing in July 2013, Libre Shuppan published the ninth compilation volume of the manga in November 2023. Subsequently, the manga had an anime series adaptation which was in charge of the CloverWorks animation studio where it was directed by Naoyuki Tatsuwa, its first chapter was broadcast on October 6, 2018, counting a total of 13 episodes.
The manga likewise inspired a movie called “Gekijō-ban Dakaretai Otoko 1-i ni Odosarete Imasu. Spain-Hen” which adapted the long-awaited Spain arc that many loved in the work. The movie was released in Japan in October 2021 and Crunchyroll subsequently added it to its catalog.
Dakaretai Otoko 1-i ni Odosarete Imasu by Hashigo Sakurabi tells the story of Takato Saijo, a successful and highly recognized actor who has held the title of “most wanted man” for five consecutive years, a recognition that has recently been snatched away by Junta Azumaya, a charismatic new actor with only three years of career.
Azumaya’s outgoing and sincere personality contrasts sharply with the hostile and competitive attitude of Takato, who is determined to regain his title. However, after a drunken night out, Takato ends up at Azumaya’s apartment, where he discovers that Azumaya has videotaped him performing disgraceful acts under the influence of alcohol, which could ruin his career.
Suspecting that Azumaya is planning to blackmail him, Takato promises to do whatever she asks of him. On her part, Azumaya surprises our protagonist by revealing that she wants to get intimate with him, this starts a complex and tension-filled relationship between the two, which gradually leads our characters to get to know each other better and eventually fall in love.
“Dakaretai Otoko” is a fun story, full of romance, where funny moments are guaranteed given the nature of our characters, which although they are so different, manage to complement each other perfectly. We hope that the Live Action manages to capture the most tender and funny moments of the series, for the time being we await further updates on this long awaited project.
