New information about the anime adaptation of the Awajima Hyakkei manga was recently released. Through its official X/Twitter account, the anime based on Takako Shimura’s manga, Awajima Hyakkei, confirmed that the renowned animation studio Madhouse will be in charge of its production. In addition, it was specified that the series will make its television premiere in Japan at some point in the year 2026. A teaser video for the anime has also been presented.
But that’s not all. The official website of the anime Awajima Hyakkei presented the team that will be involved in the production of the series: Morio Asaka is in charge of directing the anime. The animation studio Madhouse is in charge of the production of the anime. Kunihiko Hamada is in charge of the anime’s character design. Yasuhiro Nakanishi is in charge of the anime’s scripts. Takahiro Obata is in charge of composing the anime’s soundtrack.

Awajima Hyakkei is a manga written and illustrated by Takako Shimura. This manga began its serialization on the PocoPoco platform from 2021 to 2016. From 2016, the manga moved to the Ohta Web Comic platform, where it ended its publication in March 2024. The Awajima Hyakkei manga had a total of 5 compilation volumes in total.
In May 2024, Ohta Publishing announced the production of an anime adaptation for Takako Shimura’s manga, Awajima Hyakkei.
Awajima Hyakkei has the following description:
This teen drama is about a group of young girls who attend an “all-girls music school”. It narrates the formative years they shared, sometimes changing the characters’ point of view and time. The Awajima Music School Training Camp, nicknamed the “boarding school,” is where young girls from all over Japan gather to perform on stage.
Tabata Wakana aspires to be a music star. Housemistress Takehara Kinue attends to fulfill her best friend’s wishes. Beautiful Okabe Emi is a scholarship student who is always in the spotlight. Ibuki Katsurako becomes a teacher at the school even though she comes from a family of actresses.
The unique environment of the music school is both a breathing space for these aspiring girls. It is also a tough battleground that pits the young students against each other. This place is where perseverance can lead to blossoming talents. However, it also brings a cruel reality at times. The clarity of description and psychological portrayal hint at the subtle inner workings of each character.
