There is no doubt that Avatar: The Last Airbender is one of the best animated series produced in the United States. With memorable characters, an intriguing world as well as incredible action, it’s basically an anime made in America. Because of this, fans have been clamoring for a solid digital adventure that allows them to relive the best moments of the entire series. Although Nickelodeon has already released a few games based on the adventures of Aang and his friends, it looks like they will now release something really special. After weeks of rumors and leaks, Avatar The Last Airbender: Quest for Balance was officially announced.

Developed by Bamtang Games and distributed by Game Mill Entertainment (who also distribute Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 1 and 2, so they have a solid relationship with the children’s TV channel) Avatar The Last Airbender: Quest for Balance is a new video game for consoles where fans will be able to relive the most memorable moments of the series throughout 18 different chapters. They will be able to visit all the important locations of this fictional world, in the Nations of Water, Earth, Wind and Fire. From what we see in the trailer, these places look colorful and full of life, capturing the atmosphere of the original animated series flawlessly.
As for the gameplay, in Avatar The Last Airbender: Quest for Balance, you will be able to control up to 9 different characters, including Aang, Toph, Zuko, Sokka and Katara. We can notice that each one will be able to manipulate his own element (Aang uses wind, Toph uses earth, Katara uses water, Zuko uses fire, etc.) to solve different puzzles, explore wide levels and defeat powerful enemies. The mechanics of manipulating elements is simple, but, if well developed, it has a lot of potential to make the gameplay creative and unique. Especially because you will be able to improve the power and abilities of all your characters.
While we can’t deny that Avatar The Last Airbender: Quest for Balance looks like a lot of fun, it has already received some criticism from fans who believe it looks like a low-budget title, especially for its low quality graphics. The Last Airbender is considered one of the greatest and most successful animated series of all time, many think it deserves a true “Triple A” video game based on it, on the level of Marvel’s Spider-Man or the Batman Arkham trilogy. And it’s true that it could look better, especially considering that Avatar Studios continues to produce series and movies within the franchise.
But, until that happens, we are sure that Avatar The Last Airbender: Quest for Balance will be a fun and colorful experience in which we can relive the best moments of this legendary adventure. And at least it will be priced at a modest $50 USD, a little cheaper than usual. Quest for Balance comes out on September 22 and will be available for PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.
