It seems that “Attack on Titan” is still giving a lot to talk about after having finished the anime a few months ago, because if we remember that when the manga ends many otaku were unhappy with the end, this time with the conclusion of the anime, the controversy was not lacking, but there were also those who celebrated that the work of Hajime Isayama could finally end in a great way. But it seems that fans are still noticing some details in the anime and this time one in particular has caused a very heated discussion.
Otakus funan MAPPA for a scene in Attack on Titan!
It seems that once again “MAPPA” is involved in a controversy and this time it is a scene where we see the iconic fight between Armin and Eren in “Attack on Titan“, it is there where in a frame we see in the background a picture with some boats, something very normal, as it could be part of the setting of the scene, but a Reddit user has noticed that the aforementioned picture is one of the promotional images of the video game called “Total War: EMPIRE“. This has immediately gone viral both on Twitter and Reddit, where otakus once again blamed the studio and accused it of plagiarism.
Let’s remember that “MAPPA” lately does not enjoy a very good reputation, as it has been involved in many questions about its treatment of workers, the wages it pays and the difficult conditions, and now this new controversy has earned them many negative comments on different social networks from fans. Many focused on this as a blatant plagiarism by the studio that created “Attack on Titan” but also others ironically pointed out that they were not surprised, because with their low salaries the studio or some animator decided to save work by copying the promotional image of the video game.
Although some otakus commented that it could also be that the animator in charge of the background of this scene was a fan of the video game and decided to recreate this scene of the boats in “Attack on Titan” as a tribute. Faced with this new controversy, the studio has not made any statement, but obviously the fans did not miss the opportunity to point out that this was the result of MAPPA lowering the quality standards in their anime in order to continue obtaining profits.
Undoubtedly, once again MAPPA and “Attack on Titan” are giving something to talk about, although this time it is not in the best way, tell us in the comments section what do you think about this new controversy by the studio, why do you think this happened, if you agree that it was an inspiration by the animator, or if this is due to the fact that MAPPA was inspired by the animator, or if this is because the studio is cutting back on the talent of the animators and their quality control in order to have more profit margin, as some otakus point out, or if, on the contrary, it is a totally blatant plagiarism and deserves some legal repercussion from the videogame studio.
