Neon Genesisi Evangelion or simply Evangelion, Hideaki Anno’s story, is undoubtedly the anime that par excellence represents the decade of the 90s of the last century. This era was marked by various changes around the world and of course, the Japanese animation industry was not left behind, if we talk about that time we can not ignore the impact that Evangelion had and still has.
Evangelion is a franchise recognized worldwide by many, among critics and mainly by its fans, as one of the most important anime stories. Since the broadcasting of its first episode on Japanese television, it has dazzled viewers. Although Evangelion manages to develop as a peculiar narrative that combines genres such as science fiction, philosophy, psychological and post-apocalyptic, it is the mecha genre for which it is mostly remembered.
It is for this reason that at the time, Evangelion even displaced Bandai’s well-known franchise: Mobile Suit Gundam Wing. As in any other anime or manga, female characters enjoy great popularity among fans and in the case of Evangelion we can say that they have become icons of the industry.
Evangelion’s Asuka Langley reappears in chibi form
In the futuristic world of Evangelion, waifus could not be missing. Asuka Langley is one of them, a girl of only 14 years old but with an intellect above the average of most kids her age. With an American father and a Japanese-German mother, she spent her early years in Germany, where she had contact with the 02 unit.
Recently, Good Smile Company made available the Nendoroid figure of Asuka Langley from the popular Evangelion franchise. It is worth remembering that this chibi figure was initially released for sale a few years ago, in April 2020, but again it has been put on sale, so this represents a great opportunity for fans who did not manage to get it at the time.
Being from the Nendoroid line she has a particularly unique and cute design, very well detailed, 10 cm tall with stand included, accompanied by some interchangeable accessories, as well as various facial expressions. This Nendoroid is inspired by the Rebuild of Evangelion movie series, where Asuka Langley wears her school uniform of blue jumper, white blouse and socks, black shoes and her unique orange-brown hair pigtails adorned with some accessories referring to EVA 02 in red.
Her great talent made her be recognized as a prodigy girl, which she demonstrates throughout the story with an air of superiority to others. Showing great confidence in her abilities, strong, proud and with the aggressive attitude that characterizes her, Asuka Langley manages to become the favorite tsundere of many, not only of Evangelion, but also of the anime industry.
Under the violent facade she displays in front of everyone, and especially towards the protagonist, Shinji Ikari, for whom she manages to repress emotions, hides an ordinary girl, with problems like any other teenager. The same facet she wants to hide at all costs, desperately aspiring to become what she considers to be an adult.
Her persistent stubbornness makes it difficult for her to express her true feelings, causing her insecurities to resurface even in her dreams. But if there’s one thing about Asuka Langley that has undoubtedly captivated Evangelion fans, it’s her personality. She’s outgoing, impulsive, mostly has no shame or problems with doing or saying the first thing she thinks, has great charisma and her design is one of the most captivating in the otaku world.
If you do not want to be without this wonderful figure of Asuka Langley to add to your collection, you can visit the online page of Tokyo Otaku Mode Shop to purchase it, it costs approximately $33.99 and $19.89 if you have membership of the store, you can already make your presale limited to 3 pieces per order and is expected to reach the fans from the month of May 2024.
