Star Wars Outlaws and Assassin’s Creed Shadows served as the opening and closing curtain raiser at Ubisoft Forward’s video game presentation on June 10. The Star Wars and Assassin’s Creed franchises had already had brief cinematic presentations at previous events, such as at Xbox Showcase 2024 last Sunday, June 9. But at Ubisoft’s Los Angeles Forward they showed off with more extended cinematics and gameplay, with Assassin’s Creed Shadows and Star Wars Outlaws being the presentations that stole the show.
Star Wars: Outlaws, Assassin’s Creed Shadows show extended gameplays and many more surprises.
Despite being an open secret, Ubisoft Forward was not only supposed to be exclusively about Star Wars Outlaws and Assassin’s Creed Shadows, but also about many excellent announcements. And of course they were, such as a PvP update for Skull and Bones, the direct competition of Sea of Thieves and which does not plan to be abandoned for the time being. As was also announced the release of Assasins’s Creed: Mirage for iOS operating systems (iPhone and iPad).
Among other news within the Ubisoft Forward was observed a gameplay and cinematics of the DLC “The Sky Breaker” for the video game “Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora” which aims to have many hours of action and will be available next July 16. One of the games that almost stole the event was “XDefiant” a Battle Royale that recovers the essence that Call Of Duty: Warzone has been losing for months, and is that among those responsible for XDefiant is Mark Rubin, who was on the staff of COD 4: Modern Warfare and COD: MW2, being that this will be Free to play and will be available from July 2.
One of the best previews of Ubisoft Forward, was the one of Prince of Persia, where they showed the first free update for the video game titled “The Rogue Prince Of Persia: Temple Of Fire” a story DLC titled, “Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown” and, to close this trilogy of announcements with a flourish and to excite more than one, they presented a cinematic preview of “The Prince Of Persia: The Sands Of Time” a reboot of the legendary multiplatform game of 2002 and the one that started the trilogy along with The Warrior Within and The Two Crowns, being that the release of the reboot “The Sands Of Time” is scheduled for 2026.
But if there was one that stole the show, it was Star Wars Outlaws, despite being more than anticipated, it served as an introduction to what would come later, in the beginning it showed some cinematics and later what every gamer longs to see, an extensive gameplay. The gameplay demo lasted more than 9 minutes and cleared up many doubts, such as the fact that our protagonist, who is a true Han Solo, ventures on extensive missions with her little companion who is very useful both in battles and in stealth missions.
In the gameplay we are exposed how stealth is a vital part in this new installment of Star Wars, because being a game where we do not handle a Jedi, we are exposed to receive critical damage at any point. One of the important points mentioned in Ubisoft’s transmission is that space battles can be fought aboard the spaceship in the style of the Millennium Falcon or the Starfield ships, but the landings on the planets will be automated in the style of the Mass Effect trilogy.
Something that was revealed and that excited gamers was that it will be the first “open world” videogame ever created in the “Star Wars” saga, the transitions continue in the style of the franchise and this time “Outlaws” shows a superior graphics engine: mind-blowing in-game details and hours of action that teaches us that you don’t necessarily need to be a Jedi to have a good time. The release date for this game is already confirmed for August 30, 2024.
To cap off the event, Ubisoft presented the much anticipated preview and gameplay of Assassin’s Creed: Shadows that a day earlier at the Xbox Showcase 2024 had already been shown to us a little bit. The new installment “Shadows” would show an exciting gameplay of approximately 10 minutes, clearing all doubts and positioning it as one of the most impressive games of the franchise ever created. With this demo, the rumor of being able to play as the Samurai Yasuke or the Shinobi Naoe is confirmed.
In the gameplay of Assassin’s Creed Shadows we can see Yasuke entering a village to fulfill the mission to kill Fujioka, in the middle of interrogations he can reach his goal, the battle is incredibly realistic with the graphics engine used ending with the intervention of Naoe character who is also playable. The Shinobi uses mostly stealth techniques, but when she is determined to finish off her opponents the scenes are simply brutal.
It has been specified that this new installment of Assassin’s Creed will have an open world and rather than focusing on acrobatics as the first installments did, it will focus on being an immersive installment with a lot of action in between. The release is scheduled for November 15, so the wait for many players will not be as long as other games that will be released next year.
