The free-to-play tactical RPG saga known as Arknights has grown rapidly in popularity in recent years. Of course, this has led it to accumulate a huge fan community around the world, especially in China. Now, a group of fans from that country released the trailer of their Live Action movie based on the game. And to our surprise, it looks pretty good.
Arknights: Lone Trail is an impressive Live Action project
The trailer of this ambitious project was recently published on YouTube and on the Chinese site BiliBili. The name of this Live Action movie is Arknights: Lone Trail and will follow the plot of the game event of the same name: The current Terran civilization will try to explore beyond the “false sky” of the Horizon Arc Project developed by the Columbia militia. This conflict would soon be taken over by the Rhine Laboratory to accomplish Kristen Wright’s goal. Meanwhile, secrets of Terra’s true nature would be revealed, including the race of the Doctor (the game’s main character).
Fan-made projects in this style can go either very well or very badly. And we are happy to report that Arknights: Lone Trail looks excellent. The quality of each character’s costumes is truly impressive, and each one is full of details. You can tell that the people involved in this project are not only passionate fans of the game, but many of them have experience as cosplayers. In this movie we will be able to see real versions of some of the most popular girls in the game, such as Kristen, Ifrit, Saria and many more. All of them will be played by talented actresses who seem to be giving their best effort.
But the characters aren’t the only thing that look good; this whole movie has a truly incredible scale for being fan-made. The sets, the special effects and even the acting looks high-budget. It’s not perfect, but it can be forgiven for being a free project created with the love of Arknights fans. A total of 172 people are known to be involved in Lone Trail and most of them are college students.
It was also confirmed that Arknights: Lone Trail will have a running time of around 150 minutes (OR 2.5 hours) which is also very ambitious, considering that most fan-made movies are usually much shorter. It will be released on YouTube in the middle of the year and honestly, we can’t wait. It’s always beautiful to see so many creative fans of a single series, coming together to create something really special. If you’re an Arknights fan too, you won’t want to miss it.
