The hype of the “Chinese monkeys” in the video game industry seems to have no end and this time it reaches one of the most popular porridge of the giant Tencent: Arena Breakout who announced a collaboration in recent hours with one of Sunborn’s “waifus with guns” themed games: Girls Frontline. The collaboration was praised by the fandom of both games and will arrive sooner than everyone expects.
Girls Frontline x Arena Breakout, an unexpected collaboration
The union between both “free to play” will come to Tencent’s game and according to the announcement, it will be released before this 2024 comes to an end, which symbolizes that the second installment of Girls Frontline: Exile for the West may be delayed until 2025. Both Arena Breakout and Girls Frontline are available on mobile devices (Smartphones: Android, iOS) and will soon be available for Windows OS devices.
Although not much more information was announced about what this union will bring, from social networks encourage fans to be attentive to new information that will be presented as the days go by in the same official accounts of the games. On the other hand, fans hope to see a good amount of “waifus” in this collaboration and especially to know how they will be able to add the Girls Frontline girls to Arena Breakout.
Known for its level of realism and its incredible immersion, Arena Breakout was released in China in 2022 and globally in 2023, having a huge popularity since day 1 of its release, being a FPS or First Person Shooter for more experienced and serious players. The title is more tactical, since from the beginning it is required to carry loot and collect very valuable objects on the map, if the player loses most of the objects disappear.
Using a state-of-the-art Unreal Engine 4, Arena Breakout from developer Rubik’s Cube Studio takes advantage of Ray Tracing and frames per second, making it one of the best graphics FPS porridge available for smartphones. The production cost of the game is not yet known for sure, but it is believed that it was one of the most expensive, therefore, in-app purchases are too high and sometimes Arena Breakout turns out to be a “pay to win”.
On the other side of the coin we find Girls‘ Frontline, a franchise that has positioned itself in the anime and video game industry. As for the anime it has 3 series: The first 2, Girls’ Frontline: Healing Chapter and Girls’ Frontline: Madness Chapter were in charge of Taika Tori Animation studios and were broadcast between 2019 and 2020 with a total of 24 episodes, in 2022, Crunchyroll launched “Dolls Frontline” a third series in conjunction with Asahi Production studios responsible for Mahou Shoujo ni Akogarete.
Girls‘ Frontline is, like its new collaborator, a tactical “Tower Defense” game, from developer MICA Team had a first version in 2017 very successful in the West for its “XCOM” style, by 2023 a second installment “Exile” was released only in China (its country of origin) and it is expected that by the end of 2024 or early 2025 the version for the West will be launched. This new collaboration is very beneficial and timely in the run-up to the launch of a new game for the West.
