The anime world is about to get a dose of action and mystery with the official announcement of the anime adaptation of “TOUGEN ANKI”, the acclaimed manga by Yura Urushibara. The series, which has captivated more than 3 million readers with its epic story of conflict between the descendants of Oni (demons) and Momotaro, will hit screens in July 2025.
This announcement, which marks a milestone in the “TOUGEN ANKI Project”, is accompanied by a new trailer, a stunning promotional image and the reveal of new cast and crew members.

“TOUGEN ANKI” immerses us in a world where the bloodlines of the Oni and Momotaro have been passed down through generations. The Oni, aware of their ferocity, lived in isolation until their peace was interrupted by an invasion led by the Momotaro. This ancestral enmity has given rise to the “Momotaro Agency” and the “Oni Agency”, which have been in conflict for thousands of years.
The protagonist, Shiki Ichinose, suddenly discovers his Oni lineage after an attack by the Momotaro. This discovery launches him on a path of self-discovery, where he must confront the destiny that runs through his veins and the Oni that dwells within him. The series promises a new generation of dark heroism, where action and mystery are intertwined in a captivating narrative.
New Trailer and Promotional Visuals: A Glimpse of Darkness
The new trailer for “TOUGEN ANKI” offers a first look at the action and atmosphere of the series. Together with the teaser trailer, fans can get an idea of what to expect. The promotional image, meanwhile, shows main characters Shiki Ichinose, Jin Kouōgasaki and Naito Mudano unleashing their Oni powers, known as “Blood Eclipse Release.” The contrast between the red blood of the Oni and the turquoise night sky creates a dark hero atmosphere that defines the series.
New Characters and their Interpreters
Among the new cast members are Oni “Rasetsu Academy” schoolmates Homare Byobugaura, played by Manaka Iwami; Ikari Yaoroshi, played by Shogo Sakata; Juji Yusurube, played by Natsuki Hanae; Rokuro Kiriyama, played by Kaito Miura; and Kuina Sazanami, played by Aimi. The trailer also offers a first look at the voices of these characters, further adding to the anticipation.
Among the characters and performers previously revealed are: Shiki Ichinose: Kazuki Ura; Naito Mudano: Hiroshi Kamiya; and Jin Kougasaki: Koutaro Nishiyama.
