Anime games for cell phones that you never thought existed

Anime games have marked a before and after for as long as anyone can remember, giving us the power to enjoy completely new or parallel stories to the ones we already knew thanks to the anime. Many of them came to consoles and even PC.

ANIME GAMES THAT YOU MAY NOT KNOW

Several of these anime based games decided to enter our mobile devices, some are still online today, others are not, and that is why we have made this list with several anime mobile games that you probably never knew existed:

•Sword Art Online: Memory Defrag•

Juegos Anime

To start this list of anime games we have Sword Art Online: Memory Defrag, one of Bandai Namco’s games that is considered by many as the best SAO game for mobile devices. The game was released for iOS and Android devices in the month of August 2016, even a year later in 2017 it will reach many parts of the world with its English version.

Said game added content from all seasons of the anime, from Aincrad to Alicization, including content from the original Ordinal Scale work, although they also added some completely original short stories for character events, users could play solo and advance through the story, or join other players and collect materials and equipment. But Sword Art Online: Memory Defrag would have its days numbered, closing its servers on August 30, 2021.

•Gakusen Toshi Asterisk Festa Kirameki no Stella•

Juegos Anime

Like Sword Art Online: Memory Defrag, Gakusen Toshi Asteriks Festa: Kirameki no Stella was released in 2016 thanks to the guys from Bandai Namco only in Japan for iOS and Android devices. The story was the same as the anime, only the difference is that through gacha you could get the characters with different styles.

Clearly another of the differences is that they showed us many more characters that had only come out in the original work, we are talking about the light novel, its gameplay although somewhat simple was very funny, but it was little that lasted the taste of fans of anime games, since their servers closed July 13, 2017.

•Dengeki Bunko: Crossing Void•

Juegos Anime

Dengeki Bunko: Crossing Void was one of the most complete experiences in terms of mobile anime games, since like its predecessors, it brought together many characters from different light novels belonging to the publishing label. Its gameplay was similar to that of many turn-based games, something that was undoubtedly a lot of fun.

Being able to get characters from SAO, OREIMO, TOARU, SHAKUGAN NO SHANA, TORADORA, ACCEL WORD and more well-known series was certainly something incredible, it had many versions. But the one we tried in its time was the NA, although the joy of having a game full of many known characters went down the drain and its servers closed in the year 2022.

•Fantasia Re:Build•

Juegos Anime

If you are a fan of anime, manga and light novels, you will know that there are several publishing houses in Japan, one of them is Dengeki Bunko, but another one is Fantasia Bunko, because like Dengeki Bunko, they had a good idea to make a game in which they could add all the characters of their licenses (Date A Live, High School DXD, Roku de Nashi Majutsu Koushi to Akashic Records, Full Metal Panic! Slayers, Saenai Heroine no Sodatekata, Taimadou Gakuen 35 Shiken Shoutai and many more) and thus Fantasia Re:Build was born.

The game was developed in conjunction with several well-known writers, one of them Koushi Tachibana the author of DATE A LIVE who helped in the structure of the game, while Kurone Mishima author Roku of Nashi Majutsu Koushi to Akashic Records was in charge of the character design. Moreover, authors of several well-known light novels such as Kanetake Ebikawa, Sekina Aoi, Ichiei Ishibumi, Koushi Tachibana and Tarou Hitsuji were in charge of the game’s story. With all these great talents we knew it would be a blockbuster, but everything was the opposite, since its servers closed on December 17, 2020.

•God Eater Online•

Juegos Anime

God Eater Online was one of the best anime games and the definitive version that we all expected from the franchise for mobile devices. The story put us in the shoes of the protagonist which we could call as we wanted as well as to customize it to our liking, all this happens some time after the events of God Eater 2 Rage Burst in the Himalayan branch of Fenrir, so it was a game too connected with the original franchise.

It was a game with a gameplay similar to that of its console versions, of course with touch buttons, implementing the gacha to be able to acquire new weapons and costumes, as well as characters. The sad thing about that is that it was only released in Japan which was a surprise for western fans who were waiting for the global version, but it never happened, since due to the fact that another God Eater game was being developed for mobiles, it had to close its servers on September 27, 2018.

Sword Art Online Memory Defrag

These were the anime games that you probably didn’t know existed, if you played any of them, feel free to leave your comment and give us your opinion about them. And remember that these titles are no longer available in any kind of store for your mobile devices, although somewhere on the internet you can see gameplays and more content that was made during the time they were online.
