The wonderful thing about internet forums is being able to have the opportunity to exchange ideas and why not? Also talk about your favorite anime. In a recent post on a Reddit forum, jackharley71 asked the following question “What is an anime you used to hate, but now you love?” To which a lot of users responded in the comments with different series which we will talk about next.
Meet those anime that fans hated, but now have become their favorites.
One of the most talked about anime was Fairy Tail, this series where a girl seeks to join an incredible guild of magicians has not been free of controversy, from characters that should perish and did not, resurrections that are not relevant and that everything is solved with the power of friendship, among other aspects. But not everything is bad, and one of the things that all the fandom agrees on is that this story of magic is incredibly entertaining.
From its epic battles, its funny characters and those arcs that don’t let you take your eyes off the screen, this anime has made it the favorite of many. Anime such as K-ON!, Lucky Star, Kaichou wa Maid-sama! or Re: Zero, where users agreed that they judged these anime before watching them and now they are grateful for having given them a second chance.
One user commented the following about Gintama “I tried between 5 and 7 times to watch it and always stopped between 10 and 20 episodes I found it so boring, the last time I tried (with more shonen anime on my brain) I just started there and what an amazing anime, I love it”. He even made an appearance the renowned Kimetsu no Yaiba anime “Zenitsu annoyed the hell out of me, but once I got to the infinity train arc I didn’t care anymore. I still need to see the Swordsmith arc, but so far it’s simple and elegant shonen times, and I enjoy that!”.
Another topic discussed in the comments was the hatred without reason towards some series and in anime that has gone through this is the one that popularized the isekai some years ago: Sword Art Online, which has gone through ups and downs since the time of its premiere and over the years has managed to gather a lot of haters who rant against this series and this inordinate hatred has caused that many people do not even want to watch it because it will be a waste of time.
Sword Art Online is not a perfect series, but it has captivated the hearts of thousands of otaku around the world and its global recognition is still valid. Because of this, many internet users commented that they had been reluctant to give it a chance due to the negative comments surrounding the anime, but once they did, they did not regret it.
Other anime that made an appearance were: Kaguya-sama: Love Is War, Sousou no Frieren, Horimiya, Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso and Your Name, among others, it seems that when a series is very famous, people also lose the desire to watch it, it is the opposite effect to what is expected and it happens more often than we think. Likewise, not only anime but also genres were mentioned and the most commented was the romance genre, which many otaku are reluctant to give it a chance, but once they do, they have found some gems.
As you can see, there are many anime that we took a long time to give a second chance to, but once we did they became our favorites or left us with a feeling of satisfaction for having seen something worthwhile. There are still many series that could be added to this note and is that the tastes of each individual are different, now tell us what anime you hated and ended up loving?
