Both series are the work of the same author, Aka Akasaka, who confirmed in August 2021 via his Twitter/X account that Oshi no Ko takes place several years after the end of Kaguya-sama: Love is War. The connection became more apparent in a special chapter of the Oshi no Ko manga, where it is revealed that Kaguya Shirogane (formerly Kaguya Shinomiya) is the photographer who interacted with Ruby Hoshino.
